My Lazy Skincare Routine

I admit I’m lazy when it comes to skincare. Thankfully I’ve been blessed with really good skin. I hardly ever breakout, my skin tone is pretty even and my skin is very low maintenance. Strangely my skin gets worse the more I manipulate it.

Now my skin is far from perfect so there are still some things that I like to address with skincare. I have a bit of hyperpigmentation and my skin can be pretty oily. The outer perimeters of my face are a little darker and I’ve been told that my face has a “natural contour”. I’ve curated a suite of products that I use to help keep my skin even and less oily. I’ll be honest, I don’t follow these steps everyday but whenever my skin is acting up I go back to these steps.

STEP 1: PRE-CLEANSE

I use a baby wipe to remove most of my makeup and then with a reusable cotton round and the Clinique Take Off the Day Makeup Remover, I remove my eye makeup and mascara.

STEP 2: CLEANSE

I then take the Murad Clarifying Cleanser and a facial brush to cleanse my skin. I make sure to swirl the brush around my face for at least 2-3 minutes.

STEP 3: ACIDS

On either a weekly or biweekly basis, I treat my skin with some acids. Every 2-3 days I use The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA and then once a week I use The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution. The Lactic Acid is something you leave on your skin where the Peeling Solution you keep on your skin for up to 10 minutes and then rinse off.

STEP 4: MOISTURIZER

Lastly, I use the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel as a moisturizer. If my skin is super dry one day I’ll use Vaseline for some extra hydration.

STEP 5: DAILY TREATMENT

Before I apply my makeup each day I use The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% to prevent oil production and the appearance of pores.

And that’s my skincare routine! Like I said earlier I’m super lazy with my skincare so don’t feel obligated to do this every day, because I sure don’t. This is the routine that I loosely stick to and if my skin is ever flaring up, these are my go-to products to nurture my skin.
